COMMUNITY INVESTMENT FUND GRANTS
The Community Investment Fund (CIF) accepts funding applications on an ongoing basis. Applications are reviewed by the Headwaters Fund Board at their monthly meetings and recommendations for funding are forwarded to the Board of Supervisors.
Grants are available through the CIF Financing for Industries program. Grants are for infrastructure-related projects which benefit businesses. The focus for funding is on the nine base industries which bring money into the County. These nine base industries are:
- Lumber and Wood Products
- Tourism
- Dairy and Dairy Processing
- Fisheries and Aquaculture
- Specialty Agriculture and Horticulture
- Manufacturing
- Arts & Culture
- Education and Research
- Information and Technology

Funded Projects
2009-10 Grant Fund
To date, three grants have been awarded from the grant fund:
$15,531 to the UC Extension for Agriculture, Nature and Heritage Tourism
$48,000 to Fortuna High School for an Eel River Digital Media Academy
$16,347 to the Mattole Restoration Council for a Diversified Forest Economy Project

2009-10 Community Investment Fund (CIF)
Three grant projects have been funded so far this year:
$50,000 to the Mid Klamath Watershed Council towards purchasing the Panamnik Building as a community economic development center.
$300,000 to St. Joseph's Hospital to purchase telemedicine equipment for the new Northeast Tower.
