Focus Groups for the Economic Development Strategy Update in 2012

List of 16 Focus Groups

If you are interested in particpating in any of these groups, please email Dawn at delsbree@co.humboldt.ca.us or call 476-4805. Most groups will begin meeting in February of 2012 and will meet 2-3 times between February and April. The goal for the groups will be to develop action plans and a few prioritized fundable projects for the new economic development strategy which will be completed by the end of 2012.

The Headwaters Fund Board will be considering how to use these results to influence future funding recommendations at their September board meeting.

My First Post

Welcome to the Headwaters Fund Blog. Check this site for news and updates related to the fund, local economic development and for features on local business success stories.

$20,000 is now available annually in mini-grants for local programs and projects to promote economic development. Headwaters Mini-Grants are available in $1,000 -$1,500 increments and request letters are accepted on an ongoing basis. See the link below for more information.

Mini-Grant Program

Recently approved $200,000 grant for mariculture expansion on Humboldt Bay. Developed by local oyster farmers in collaboration with the Humboldt Bay Harbor Recreation and Conservation District, the grant pays for permitting additional acreage in the bay for mariculture. This project should result in doubling the available acreage from the 325 currently in production to over 600 and result in at least 33 additional jobs.
